There are several types of drones such as Ready To Fly (RTF), Bind And Fly (BNF), Plug And Play (PNP), and Almost Ready To Fly (ARF). 

  • RTF is the model which comes with a complete set and with everything you need to get started. It is suitable for beginners as it is the easiest type to start and operate with. 

  • BNF is completed with everything you need except for a transmitter. This type allows you to use any transmitter of your choice and all you need is just bind it to the receiver with the model.

  • PNP comes with everything except for a transmitter, receiver battery and charger. But, it does equip servos, motor and ESC. 

  • ARF is the model that is ‘partially’ completed. This is because you need some additional items in order to make it complete before you fly it. Normally you would need servos, motor, electronics, batteries and even glue.

Is It Legal to Fly a Drone In Malaysia?

Based on Malaysia’s National Aviation Authority; the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM), it is legal to fly a drone in our country. However, there are several things that one should know before flying one such as being aware of and compliant with the drone regulations. 

One does not really need a license to fly a drone, however, one must make sure that he is following the drone laws like you cannot fly the drone higher than 122 meters or 400 feet. Another regulation is one needs to hold a private pilot license if his drone weighs more than 20kg. 

Regardless of any reasons you have to fly a drone, always remember to abide by the rules and regulations of flying a drone in our country safely.
